Pia Raanani, MD

Prof. Pia Raanani is Head of the Division of Hematology and Hemato-oncology at the Rabin Medical Center, Petah-Tikva, Israel. She is also Head of the Research Funds Committee of the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at the Tel-Aviv University. She established and heads the Hemato-oncology Hospitalization Unit at the Davidoff Cancer Center, which is part of Rabin Medical Center, as well as a faculty member at Tel Aviv University’s Sackler School of Medicine. Prof. Raanani served for 4 years as the Head of the University’s Department of Hematology. She is a member of several committees including the Committee of Cancer Research Biology for Tel Aviv University and others. Her primary field of interest is in hemato-oncology, particularly leukemia and lymphoma with international acknowledgement mainly in the field of chronic myeloid leukemia. She has received a number of grants for research conducted in the field of hemato-oncology. She has more than 100 peer reviewed publications, mainly in the field of hemato-oncology and is leading clinical and basic science studies in the field.
Prof. Raanani received her medical doctorate from Hebrew University Medical School in 1986, with additional certifications in Internal Medicine and Hematology in 1992 and 1995, respectively. She spent one year at the Hammersmith Hospital in London, expertizing in the field of chronic myeloid leukemia and was visiting Professor for several months at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New- York in the Leukemia Service, expertizing in acute leukemia. She is a member of the Israeli Societies of Medicine, Internal Medicine and Hematology as well as the European Hematology Association and the American Society of Hematology.
